Jurassic Wars Wins Game Of The Year
Dicing with dinosaurs a monster hit and one for the future, too, say toy trade judges
A Chandlers Ford board games business is looking forward to having a Christmas bestseller after winning a national accolade for their latest creation.
Dice Maestro’s Jurassic Wars dinosaur combat game has been declared the best family board game of the year in the Toy Talk Awards.
Dice Maestro co-founder and inventor Antony Brown is hoping that the award will lead to Jurassic Wars becoming a success this Christmas and he’s especially pleased that part of the judging process involved families actually playing it. “It means the awards are a good reflection of consumer opinion”, he said.
The judging panel saw Jurassic Wars as educational as well as great fun, praising its “great dino imagery” and is “attention-grabbing” quality. The judges gave Jurassic Wars top marks for play value, especially because there’s a whole games system being built on it.
“The basic game is a knockout but the rules for different game versions, including point-scoring games such as Jurassic Wars Whist, are published on the Dice Maestro website,” Antony said. “More are being added all the time. This greatly enhances the appeal and longevity of the game.”
A whole set of Jurassic Wars expansion packs that introduce new dinosaurs, combat cards and play mechanisms has already been developed and tested and are planned for release starting next year.
